My name’s Bill Bailey. For many years I’ve owned and produced jewelry from a company known as Dimonz, which concentrates primarily on diamond jewelry. For more than thirty years, I’ve also bought and sold loose corundum (sapphires and rubies) and colored stones from wholesale manufacturers in Asia and used them to produce beautiful engagement rings, pendants, earrings, and tennis bracelets.
Although I still produce diamond jewelry, Rare Bird Corundum concentrates on corundum and other colored stone jewelry. I thought it important to create a separate company specializing in sapphire, ruby, and colored stone jewelry because the colored stone gem market is extraordinarily complex. Few people understand it and how to successfully buy colored stones at good prices. I do!
Did you know that two untreated, natural rubies and sapphires that appear identical both to the naked eye and under microscopic examination can cost hugely different amounts of money depending solely on the country of origin? Did you know that larger, top-quality rubies are 80 to 100 times as scarce as diamonds of the same size and quality? Let me help you make sense of this difficult market and how to determine the appropriate value of colored stones and colored stone jewelry.
